“We lift ourselves by our thought, we climb upon our vision of ourselves. If you want to enlarge your life, you must first enlarge your thought of it and of yourself. Hold the ideal of yourself as you long to be, always, everywhere - your ideal of what you long to attain - the ideal of health, efficiency, success”. --Orison Swett Marden
We lift ourselves by out thought! Think about that. We lift ourselves by our thought. What are you thinking? Is it positive or negative? I hope that it is positive. If it is negative, WHY are you thinking it? I mean really, why spend time thinking negatively? What does it get you? MORE negativity!
Do you want to enlarge your life? What would that look like for you? What would you be, have or do if you enlarged your life? To enlarge your life, you need to enlarge your thinking. Are you ready to do it? Doing it once is easy, even doing it for a day is easy...it's about doing each and every day, without question. You can do it, you just need to commit to doing it.
Hold the ideal of what you long to be. "Fake it till you make it." People say that's not authentic. It is authentic... for your future! Want to know your future? Look at what you are doing today. What you do today will determine who you become. Is that a good thing or do you need to work on it for a while? Are you doing the things that you need to do to become who you want to become?
Lift yourself by your thoughts. It will only cost you changing the way you think. Can you do that? I think so...

Do You Limit Yourself?
"Don't limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve." --Mary Kay Ash
Are you limiting yourself? I bet you are and you might not even know it. Why do we limit ourselves? Fear. We are afraid of becoming all we can become, so we limit our thoughts to only that which we think is safe and won't cause waves. You've heard this before but "what would you do if you knew that you couldn't fail?" Would you limit yourself then? Don't play small. It doesn't serve you or the world.
It's a good thing that redwood trees don't have the human brain! If they did, they would only be bushes and not gigantic, majestic trees. Think about nature. Does it limit itself or does it grow to be all it can be. Why don't we do that? Why don't we become all we can become? Because we have a brain that is not our friend. Our brain is designed for protection and safety and we have been conditioned to live from the outside in rather than from the inside out.
You can go as far as your mind will let you go, but when you get there, go further! Go beyond what your mind is telling you. Henry Ford said that "whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right." What you believe you can achieve.

"There is absolutely nothing that separates the elite from the paupers except their expectations. If you wish to rise above the masses, then let the fire burn fiercely within you. Do this, and it shall be done!." -- J. Arthur Holcombe
What are you expecting? Are you expecting great things or bad things? Why? Your expectations is what will carry you to everything that you desire! It is the only difference between those who have and those who don't. Those who expect great things, get great things. Those who expect not so great things...well, you get the idea.
I work with business owners and salespeople and I am constantly amazed that when they go to meet a potential client, their expectations are almost always negative. Are you like that? Change that NOW! If you walk into a meeting and you have a negative expectation, LEAVE. Nothing good will come of that meeting...until you change your expectation.
Expectations are a part of us down deep and they are part of what makes our vibrations. If your vibrations are negative, others will pick up on that and become negative as well. Learn to change your vibration so that you are vibrating positively! The world we see is the world that we have created with our expectations and our thoughts. Is that a world that you want to stay in or would you like to change what you are seeing?
To change what you are getting and seeing, change your thoughts and vibrations.

Abundance, Lack and Gratefulness
"Both abundance and lack exist simultaneously in our lives, as parallel realities. It is always our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend ... when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience heaven on earth." ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach
Both abundance and lack exist simultaneously and it is up to us to choose which we will focus on. We have been spoiled by our society so much that we concentrate more on what we don’t have than be grateful for what we do have. The TV constantly is showing us all the things that we don’t have and says “you need this!” Telling us that you have to keep up with the neighbors, your friends, everyone.
Are you truly grateful for what you have? Sure, I can hear you now, ‘yes, I’m grateful,” but are you really. When was the last time you said “I’m grateful for everything that I have?” See, we are grateful for the good things, but not the bad things. What about that? Shakespeare said that “there is no good or bad, only what we assign to it.” It is when you are grateful for everything that “the wasteland of illusion falls away.”
Here’s a challenge for today…Be grateful for EVERYTHING that happens to you. Everything. You can choose to focus on abundance or lack. It’s your choice!

Set Your Sights High
"Set your sights high, the higher the better. Expect the most wonderful things to happen, not in the future but right now. Realize that nothing is too good. Allow absolutely nothing to hamper you or hold you up in any way."~ Eileen Caddy
Do you set your sights high? Some people do, some don't. Here's a fact: Most people set their goals so that they need to work a little more, a little harder to reach them. Most people don't set BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goals) goals, no matter what they say. Leonardo da Vinci said that we should not "fear setting goals too high and not reaching them, but setting goals to low and attaining them." How true!
I've often talked about playing small. The world doesn't benefit by you playing small. You don't benefit by playing small. Do you realize that? If you are playing small you might be accomplishing some things but not everything that you could! Stop playing small. Play as BIG AS YOU CAN!
Expect wonderful things to happen NOW!!! Not in the future, but now. We often postpone our happiness by saying "when I do this, then I will be happy." Why do we not EXPECT wonderful things to happen now. They are almost always in the future...
Nothing is too good...wow. What a thought to leave you with for the weekend. Nothing is too good!

Life's Strict Rule
"Life's strict rule is this: You get more of what you focus on. Ignoring this, we abandon our healthiest, concentrative energies and court emotional upheaval. ~-Marsha Sinetar
What you focus on, you get more of!!! So why are you still focused on the negative, the problem or the challenge? It's because we were programmed that way. You can break out of that programming but it takes time and effort, things that most of us don't want to give. We want to change right now and we don't want to do anything that will require effort on our part. Just give me a pill or something...
I don't think that we ignore this rule, but we sometimes forget and the same problems keep coming back. Your programming controls everything and even when your conscious mind is thinking one thing, your (subconscious) programming is thinking just the opposite. That's why it's so hard to make changes in our life. We think that we can change, but until the programming is changed, nothing happens and we just get upset and give up.
Keep working on your programming. It's the only way to really make any change. Any real changes.

Do Not Squander Time
"Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff that life is made of." ~Benjamin Franklin.
Do you love life? Do you squander time? Why? We all do it. We get so busy doing inconsequential things that the important things get pushed aside. In our over communicated, over saturated, overstimulated, over busy society, our attention is taken away from what is important and we chase after the latest, shiniest new thing that comes our way. SQUIRREL!!!! We squander our most valuable asset, our time.
Zig Ziglar says that "Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four-hour days." Not having enough time is a priority issue, not a time issue. We have plenty of time to do the things we want to do, just not enough time to do the things that we may have to do, but don't want to do.
The next time that you are asked to do something that you don't want to do, be honest and say "I'm sorry, but that isn't of enough value to me to do at this time" instead of just saying, "I don't have time." If it is of enough value to you, you will find a way of making the time so that you can do it.
Start giving your time the value it deserves, investing it and not squandering it and you will become even more valuable to others and yourself.

Have You Made A Difference?
"You never know when someone will catch a dream from you. You never know when that little word or something you do opens the windows of the mind that seeks the light. So just in case, it could be that another's life through you might possibly change for the better, with a broader and brighter view, it seems it might be worth a try at pointing the way to the right...of course it may not matter at all...but you never know it might."
When do you know if you have made a difference? Do you ever know? How often do you think about making a difference in the lives of others? We are so busy with all of our own crap, we don't often think of others...but what would happen if someone catches their dream from you? What a wonderful thing that would be!
Do you live your life as an inspiration to others or are you so caught up in your own stuff that you forget about everyone else or simply don't have time? What will you do today to be an inspiration to others? Maybe just a smile, a wave, a sincere "hello." That may be all it takes to turn someones day around...
Hopefully this has inspired you to make a difference in someones life today. Of course, it might not matter at all...but then again, it might!

Fit In or Stand Out?
"Every single one of us can do things that no one else can do - can love things that no one else can love. We are like violins. We can be used for doorstops, or we can make music. You know what to do." ~ Barbara Sher
Why are you trying so hard to fit in when you were born to stand out? We are trained to "fit in." We are taught to be like everyone else. Don't be different, don't be unique, don't stand out!
We were each created with special abilities that only we have, but if you have hidden your abilities in the effort to "fit in" then you are doing the world and yourself a disservice. The world only benefits when you are doing what you are supposed to be doing not when you are fitting in.
You can choose which to be, either a Strataverius or a Stratadoorstop. It is entirely up to you, not your parents, teachers, friends or anyone else. IT IS YOUR CHOICE! Choose wisely.

Half Full or Half Empty
"Some folks go through life pleased that the glass is half full. Others spend a lifetime lamenting that it's half-empty. The truth is: There is a glass with a certain volume of liquid in it. From there, it's up to you!"~Dr. James S. Vuocolo
Well there are your choices...Is it half full or half empty? Your answer will say a lot about you (but I would imagine that most people will say it's half full, because that is what they are supposed to say...) Why not think of another answer? I say that the glass is FULL! Half with water and the other half with air. Just because I only gave you 2 choices, you thought that those were the only answers.
See, we've been taught to think sequentially, not simultaneously. We've also been taught that most questions require an either or answer...Why not think of AND instead of the either or? Let's say that you want to do a couple of things on vacation, so you say well we could do this or that. Why not say, we could do this first AND then that second! You might not get to spend all the time you wanted on one thing but you were able to do them both!
Aristotle said "Happiness depends on ourselves," and Edison said “There is a time for everything.” The choices are up to us AND there is time for everything. Remember, think AND instead of either or!

SQUIRREL!!!
“It was a day like today when Marco Polo took off to China. What are your plans today?” ~ Loesje
That was when people still believed that the world was flat and that you could fall off if you went to far! It was a day just like today. What will be your plans for today that will change the world?? Do you have any plans? Ya, I know, you are going to do what you do everyday and those are your plans...Well, goody for you!!!
If you keep doing what you have always done, you are going to keep getting what you always get. How's that working for ya???
Maybe you will start to do something new and different, but just as you get going, you see... a ... SQUIRREL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Distracted again...off on another tangent, getting you no closer to your plans or goals. But you are busy...SQUIRREL...and then another tangent. Then another SQUIRREL!!!
Imagine if Marco Polo had been so easily distracted, or Columbus, or Einstein or anyone who has been successful in completing something. Our society has even given this challenge a name...ADD and tries to cover the issue with drugs. Well, we know how well drugs worked in the '60's so why not now???

Live in the Now
Tomorrow never comes and yesterday never comes back, so live today to it's fullest so that your yesterdays will be remembered with happiness and your tomorrows will be full of brightness and hope.
Are you living today to the fullest? Are you playing full out? Why not? What is holding you back? Tomorrow is promised to no one, so it could never come. Are you planning on doing something someday? Guess what? Someday NEVER comes.
Are you stuck living in the past? What benefit are you getting from doing that? There must be some benefit otherwise you would have left it behind a long time ago. To be able to live in the present, you have to let go of the past...especially the past that is holding you back.
Do you want your tomorrows to full of brightness and hope? Then live full out today!! It is the only way to create the future that you want. Here's a secret...I can see your future! How you ask? You future is being created by the things you do today and the thoughts that you have today. If you are wanting tomorrows that are full of brightness and hope, start today with brightness and hope

Make No Little Plans
“Make no little plans. They have no Magic to stir Men's blood.”~ Daniel H. Burnham
How big are your plans? Are they real big or are they just normal size? Why? I work with clients and ask them to come up with a BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) and usually, without fail, they come up with a goal that is reachable with a little more effort, but not one that would require too much work to achieve.
Average plans will not cause you to do whatever you need to do to accomplish it. You will quit on average plans because your reason for doing it doesn't stir your soul...oh, sure, it stirs your soul you say...right. Be honest with yourself.
The world is waiting for you to play big, not small. Your average plans will keep you right where you are...average. I suppose that you could say that in being mediocre, you are always at your best...but that's a backhanded compliment that's not worthy of you. Do you realize that you are worthy of playing big? Yes, YOU are worthy to play big, so show the world what you are here to show the world. Don't hide behind anything, step out and claim your greatness!
“Make no little plans. They have no Magic to stir Men's blood.”
Know. Be Known. Make A Difference!

Working on YOUR Plan?
“If you don't design your own life plan, chances are you'll fall into someone else's plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.” Jim Rohn
Have YOU designed your life or are you working on someone else's plan? It might have been your parent's plan, your partner's plan, your teacher's plan, but it's not your plan. Take the time right now to analyze where you are going and if that's where you really want to go. Go ahead...I'll wait.
OK, good. Now, if you are working on YOUR plan, congratulations. If not, well then START RIGHT NOW working on your plan. "It is never too late to be who you might have been." The world doesn't benefit by you working on someone else's plan, only when you are working on your plan, does the world get to experience the gifts and talents that you have.
Plan BIG. Think BIG. Do BIG! If you are going to plan, think and do, you might was well do it as big as you possibly can, right? Tell me your big plans, so we can help each other make them happen!

Reconnect With What Makes You Happy
"Life without dreams is no life at all. When our existence gets reduced to a list of problems to solve or things to check off, passion dries up. Imagine a different list, one comprised of projects and activities that are the expression of your heart and soul. Reconnect to what makes you happy. Do you know what that is?" ~Marcia Wieder
Do YOU have a life? A life of dreams to be pursued and attained? Has your passion for life dried up because of your list of things to be done, checked off, finished? Has your passion for life dried up because of WORK?
This weekend, reconnect with what makes you happy. What gets you going, what really excites you. It's ok to let your list go for a day, those problems and challenges will still be there when you get back to them. But for right now, let them go...and have fun today! It's ok. Sometimes we feel like we need to ask for permission to have fun... well, I give you permission to have fun. TODAY!
Create a new list, a list with all the things that you REALLY want to do. Work equally on both lists, but for today, concentrate on your new list, the one with all the things that you really want to do. Maybe it's your "Bucket List."
Reconnect with what makes you happy. Do you know what that is? Find out if you don't know and then just do it. We were created to live a life of abundance and joy and if you are missing these things, then you are cheating yourself. Remember, I gave you permission!

Double Your Rate of Failure
“Would you like me to give you a formula for... success? It's quite simple, really. Double your rate of failure. You're thinking of failure as the enemy of success. But it isn't at all... you can be discouraged by failure or you can learn from it. So go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because, remember that's where you'll find success. On the far side.”~Thomas J. Watson
Double your failure rate!!! I bet you never heard that from a teacher. We have been taught that failure is BAD, WRONG, it means you are STUPID. We've been taught wrong. We need to be free to fail, not have all these labels if we don't get it right the first time. We've been taught that failure is the enemy, but it isn't.
So go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because, remember that's where you'll find success. On the far side of failure...Make all you can, another thing teachers never told us. I wonder why??
Personally, I don't believe in failure, it just doesn't exist. We don't fail, we just get results. They may not be the results that we are looking for, but they are results or feedback...not failure. If we don't get the results that we want, just start over and work until you get the results you want. Failure never enters into the equation!

Your Brightest Future Awaits
“The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.”
Have you let go of the past failures and heartaches or are you still carrying them with you? Your brightest future will not come to you until you let them go. Let them go now, today, why wait another day?
Here's the thing. You have learned from those failures and heartaches. Take the lessons and leave the rest. Leave the pain. Leave the blaming. Leave everything but the lesson you learned. The reason that you haven't let them go yet is that you are getting some benefit out of holding on to them. You need to realize that greater benefits are waiting for you the minute you leave those failures and heartaches behind.
Do you believe in a brighter future or are you stuck in blah land? There is a brighter future for all of us, we only have to embrace it and leave those failures and heartaches behind. NOW.

The Price of Fear of Failure
“We pay a heavy price for our fear of failure. It is a powerful obstacle to growth. It assures the progressive narrowing of the personality and prevents exploration and experimentation. There is no learning without some difficulty and fumbling.” ~John Gardner
What is the price that YOU have paid for fear of failure? We all have paid something for that and we either learned from it or we have let it keep us from doing what we really wanted to do. Have you remained stuck because of fear? How is it holding you back? What is it keeping you from doing today?
This fear assures the progressive narrowing of your personality and prevents exploration and experimentation. Is your personality narrowing? Think about that...how has your personality grown or narrowed lately? This fear also prevents exploration and experimentation. When was the last time that you went exploring? When was the last time that you experimented with your life? Never? Once, when you were a kid? Or regularly?
There is no learning without some difficulty and fumbling. Somehow, we in America have been sold a bill of goods that life should be easy and without difficulty. Are you really believing that? If you are planning on learning, plan on difficulty. That's life, get used to it. Quit whining and complaining that something isn't fair and get out there and make things happen. Learn something. Teach something. Make something.

Risking Failure
“One of the reasons mature people stop learning is that they become less and less willing to risk failure.”~ John W. Gardner
Are you less and less willing to risk failure? Are you trying to hold on to what you have, hoping that will be enough? Have you stopped learning? 3 questions to think about today...
Have you stopped learning? Most people will say, "No, I'm a life-long learner," but are you really? Are you learning new things or just things that you know already? Think about that. I know someone who is learning to write with her opposite (left) hand, after many years of writing with her right. Now that is learning something new!!
Are you trying to hold on to what you have, hoping it will be enough? Many clients I work with are trying to hold on to the clients that they have when, if they were to let them go, they would be able to reach and take on bigger and better clients. And the tighter you try to hold something, the more it slips out of your grasp, doesn't it? Are you trying to hard to hold on?
Are you less and less willing to risk failure? When you are less willing to risk failure, your world starts getting smaller and smaller. The real world doesn't benefit in you playing small, but in you playing as big as you can! The more that you are willing to let go, the more that you allow to come into your life, but if you aren't willing to risk failure, then you are just planning on failure, without really knowing that's what you are doing.
Keep learning and be willing to risk failure...AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!!!

Keep on
“I am not judged by the number of times I fail, but by the number of times I succeed; and the number of times I succeed is in direct proportion to the number of times I can fail and keep on trying." ~ Tom Hopkins
I am judged by the number of times I succeed, yes I am judged by the number of times I succeed, not the number of times I have failed. It's so difficult to let the failure go but that's what needs to happen to succeed again. We hold on to our failures much too tightly and much too long. Why do we do that?
“Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections, but instantly set about remedying them – every day begin the task anew.” St. Francis de Sales
Set about remedying those imperfections and every day, begin the task anew. Work on those imperfections a little every day and soon they will be gone. Too often we allow those imperfections to stay with us without us working on them. Sometimes we don't work on them because other people might see them and we couldn't have that or sometimes we get some kind of benefit from the imperfection...
The number of times I succeed is in direct proportion to the number of times I can fail and keep on trying. Well I plan to keep on trying.

You were born to win, but to be a winner you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win. ~Zig Ziglar
YOU WERE BORN TO WIN!!! Do you realize that? Really? Most people just accept what they get without any thought of winning, just happy to be alive...Oh, they wish that they would win and sometimes they even win...but they don't have a winner's mindset. See, there are 3 things that you have to do to create a winner's mindset. 1. Plan 2. Prepare 3. Expect.
Sometimes we plan but most of the time we don't plan, or plan to win, because it takes some work to plan. It's said that "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." Cute wording but oh so true!! Yet there we are, just going about our day without planning, and reacting to everything that comes our way. Make a plan. Plan your work and then work your plan.
Be Prepared. The Boy Scout motto that we learned as kids...but do we continue it in our daily work? No, for the most part, we just kind of wing it, don't we. What is it that you are preparing for? Anything? Your next appointment? A new sales call? NO, after a few times, we think that we can just do it without preparation. Preparation creates confidence...and confidence is what makes good things happen for you.
Expectations. I train sales people and always, without a doubt, when I ask them if they expected to make the sale, they reply no. Why is that? They have never been taught that expectations create your reality. In fact, when they don't make the sale, the first thing they say is "I knew it." Talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy!!! They knew they couldn't make the sale, but didn't think that they could make the sale...How screwed up is that?
There are 3 things that you have to create the mindset do to win.

I Refuse To Accept You As You Are
“If I accept you as you are, I will make you worse; however, if I treat you as though you are what you are capable of becoming, I help you become that.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
We are often told to "accept people as they are" so as not to bring attention as to who they are. Is this good? Or do we make them worse by accepting them as they are and opposed to what they are capable of becoming? It's important to allow people to be who they are without criticism, but what if they can become so much more? Wouldn't it be our responsibility to help them become what they could become?
I'm the Grand Inquisitor and I'm also an Irritator and Goethe's quote really makes it for me, because so many people are living their lives at 50% when they could be at 80% or 90%. Are you living your life at less than it should be? Are people accepting you and not challenging you to be more? How do your friends interact with you? Are they moving you forward or keeping you where you are?
The world does not benefit from you playing small and if we accept you as you are, we may be not allowing you to become who you might be. I would hate that...so I'll go on Questioning and Irritating. I'm ok with you not liking me because I irritate you. It means that you are thinking about something and that will challenge you and get you out of your comfort zone and allow you to grow.
"It's never too late to be who you might have been."

Living Out of Your Imagination
"Live out of your imagination, not your history."~Stephen Covey
Are you living out of your history or your imagination? Think about that before you answer...Most of us are living out of our history, whether we realize it or not. We continue to do the same thing, over and over and expect different (better) results. Einstein described that as insanity, yet there we are, doing it again and again.
Sometimes we have a bad history and we continue to punish ourselves by living it over and over again. Here's the thing...at any moment, you can choose to have a different history! You don't have to live in the pain of your past history, because everything works together for you and while you might have experienced loss, there is a silver lining just waiting to be seen! But if you are looking at the door that closed, you will miss it.
What does it mean to "live out of your imagination?" Do you know? I think that it means that as we imagine things, we should strive for them, rather than just think about them and do nothing. Think of a time when you had a good idea...thought about it for a while...AND THEN FORGOT IT! The universe likes speed and you need to capitalize on that. Don't let fear hold you back from "Living out of your imagination..."

Significant and Important
“It seems essential, in relationships and all tasks, that we concentrate only on what is most significant and important.”~Soren Kierkegaard
Are you concentrating on what is "most significant and important?" Most of the time, we don't, do we. We are preoccupied with what is now, with the latest and greatest, with the wiz-bang things.
Why is it so easy to "Major in the Minor" things? We know that they are minor things, and yet we spend hour after hour doing those minor things to the detriment of what is most significant and important.
Stop majoring in the minor things. Start spending you time on the significant and important things. You will have to get clear on what is significant and important, but that can be the easy part.

Stop majoring in the minor things. Start spending you time on the significant and important things. You will have to get clear on what is significant and important, but that can be the easy part.
Know. Be Known. Make A Difference!
“It seems essential, in relationships and all tasks, that we concentrate only on what is most significant and important.”

Learning, Living and Hope
"Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow."~Albert Einstein
"Once you choose hope, anything's possible."~Christopher Reeve
Do you learn from yesterday? What did you learn? See, most of the time, we are so busy that we don't take the time to evaluate what we have learned and what we haven't. In our go, go, go society, we hardly even take the time to stop and take a deep breath, much less take time to think about what we learned or didn't learn.
Einstein, one the smartest men ever to have lived says that we need to learn from our yesterdays! Take that to heart and spend 10 minutes each night thinking about your day and what you learned. He also says to live for today. I read that as be present where you are, always. Our minds, while wonderful and complex, challenge us to be present with all the other thoughts of things that need to get done and things that didn't get done and all the other stuff. Wherever you are...BE THERE!
Hope. Hope for tomorrow. Do you have hope? I know some people who don't believe in hope...and I feel sorry for them. They just seem to feel that they have to live with what life gave them and they can never change their life for the better. "Choose hope." Anything is possible when you choose hope. Anything is possible!
