A Duke University study found that 40% of what we
do is mindless habit. That’s both useful
(saves energy) and dangerous (that comfortable rut).
What’s the habit that serves you most at the moment?
What’s the habit that serves you most at the moment?
Which one serves you least?
Think about that, 40% of what we do is mindless habit! What could you do with that 40% if you were present? Now some habits are useful, they save our energy, they let us do two things at once. Think about your useful habits. How could you increase those useful habits?
Now, think about those dangerous habits, the ones that keep us in a rut. I once heard the best description of a rut and that is "A rut is a grave with the ends kicked out!" Are those dangerous habits serving you or are they holding you back or even killing you? They can't be doing all three so you need to decide if they are worth keeping or should they be tossed in the garbage bin?
Too often we allow our lives to become a mindless habit. We get up, shower, brush our teeth, fix our hair, shave all without thinking. Then we go to work, take the same roads we always take and again, no thinking. Then we get to work, we do the same thing we have always done again without thinking. We drive home, eat dinner and turn on the tv and any thinking we would have done devolves into mush...
Remember, "The secret to our future is hidden in our daily routine." If the above is your daily routine, I don't see much of a future there. WAKE UP TO YOUR FUTURE! Start getting out of those mindless habits and start living!
Know. Be Known. Make A Difference!
