Are you conforming to the stereotypes that others have defined for you? Why? I mean really, why? Were you told that you needed to be this way or that way and you did it? What were you thinking?  Too many people conform to what others have defined for them!

Here's a favorite quote of mine, "It's none of my business what you think of me." See, if I make it my business what you think of me, then I change who I am to gain your acceptance, trust, love, whatever.  Then I become inauthentic and I'm just acting.  But to really live that quote, you need to be confident in who you are and know who you are!

“Don’t be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams.” Too many people today are only pushed by their problems and aren't led by their dreams. Be led by your dreams! But make sure that they are your dreams and not someone elses...

Be Yourself

This is Ralph Waldo Emerson Week: Day #2

Are you really yourself? Really? Or are you playing a role that someone else has decided for you? The world around you is constantly trying to make you something other than who you are. The world wants you to conform to it, how do you deal with that?  Or is it just easier to give in and be like everybody else?

What makes you different, or do you try to fit in and NOT stand out? We've always been told to be like everybody else, fit in, don't be different, don't be unique. What a crock! You were created to be unique...Live that uniqueness. Don't back away from it, revel in it.

“Insist on yourself; never imitate. Be original” As much as we like to think of America as a land of individuals, we don't often enough insist on being ourselves. We imitate others, we fit in, we don't rock the boat.

Action:
Today, STAND OUT!! When given an opportunity to be yourself, DO IT! And watch the difference it makes

Tomorrow is promised to no one.  Choose well and carefully.   It is always your choice.  And the sooner that you realize that you are where you are now because of the choices that you have made, the sooner you can start making better choices.  It's always been up to you!
