What AreYou Looking At?

"It's not what you look at that matters; it's what you see."~Henry David Thoreau

What are you looking at? Do you really see what you are looking at or are you just looking? When you go to a store to buy something, when the clerk says "May I hep you," why do we say, "Oh, I'm just looking?"

Because of the way that our brain works, we don't often find what we are looking for. Unless we have already put what we are looking for into our RAS (Reticular Activating System) we will just walk right by what we are looking for. When you think about buying a car, the model and color of the car, you start seeing that car all over the highway, when the day before you never noticed them.

What are you putting into your RAS. Is it helping you or hurting you? Are you able to SEE instead of LOOK? Allow your brain to work for you and start putting into your RAS the things that you want out of life. The more that you think about them, the sooner they will appear in your vision (both visually and thought wise).

"It's not what you look at that matters; it's what you see."

Stop looking and start seeing!

Life is Easy...Or it's Hard. It's Your Choice

"Life is as easy or as hard as you think it is."
What do you think about that? Do you agree or disagree?

I tend to see it as true. I know that when I focus on certain things, I get more of those things, or at least the opportunity to get more of those things. Either good or bad what we focus on we bring about. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR LIFE! Whether you believe it or not.

"You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you get what you need." With apologies to the Rolling Stones, sometimes you get what you need, but you ALWAYS get what you EXPECT.

Ultimately, the world treats you as you expect to be treated! Do you expect great things to happen to you? Or do you expect bad things to happen to you? You're in charge and it all takes place in between your ears. You can blame no one else when you realize that you get to make it all up!

"Life is as easy or as hard as you think it is."
It's also as easy as you expect or as hard as you expect it to be.

Uncompleted Tasks

"Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task." ~William James

How right is that? That one thing that you've been putting off and it's just hanging there, bugging you and the more you ignore it the more it bugs you...

How stress-free would we be if we only worked on one project at a time and worked on it until we completed it? Multi-tasking is a myth and anyone who tells you they are good at it are only kidding themselves and others. When you "multi-task" it takes you on an average about 20% longer to complete each task, so instead of getting things done, you are spending 40% longer doing them than if you would have done them one at a time...Something to consider:

*The next time you put one project down to start another...
*The next time that you don't feel like finishing that report now...
*The next time you don't want to call you client and give them the bad news...

Think back to the last time that you left a task uncomplete. How did that feel?
"Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task."

Wisdom

"The doors of wisdom are never shut."~Benjamin Franklin

Only we can shut the doors of wisdom. With the 3 most damaging words in language, "I know that."

How many times a day do you say "I know that"? One of my earliest mentors told me that you can hear something 99 times and the 100th time, you get it. Or maybe you just weren't in a position to understand it yet although you'd heard it 99 times before.

How many times have YOU shut the doors of wisdom? If you really "knew it" you would already be doing it, right? It is never too late to open the doors of wisdom again and let it flow over you.

Be a learner, be open to things new and old and the the doors of wisdom will never be shut!

It's Never Too Late

"It is never too late to be what we might have been."~George Eliot

What did you want to be when you were a kid? Why? Is it too late for you to be that NOW? For me, I wanted to be a professional ballplayer, first a pro basketball player and then when the NBA decided that they didn't need vertically challenged, slow white guys, I wanted to play pro baseball.

I had my chance there but after a couple of years, I lost the heart, will and desire for that. Do I regret that decision, not really. My life has been filled with great things and while I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up, I KNOW that it is never too late to become that!

I know that I can do almost anything that I want (other than the pro ball stuff). I can be almost anybody that I want to be.

What about you? Do you KNOW that you can become who or what you want? Do you realize that we are each give something to be and do? What were you given to do?

Are you doing what you are SUPPOSED to be doing, or are you just doing what you CAN to pay the bills? Are you living the life you were MEANT to live?

Deep thoughts for a hot July day but only when you realize that:
"It is never too late to be what we might have been."

Learning Equals Prosperity

"Prosperity belongs to those who learn new things the fastest."~Paul Zane Pilfer

What new things are you learning? Are you learning them fast or does it seem like it's a struggle to learn?

Learning takes place when what you hear is put into action. Just because you know something doesn't mean that you have learned it. I'm sure that you've heard thousands of ways to market your business, but learning the best way doesn't happen until you put one of them into action!!

This puts RWE's quote "What have you learned since we last met?" in a new light, doesn't it.

"Learning takes place when what you hear is put into action."

Settling vs. Wanting

"The space for what you want is currently being occupied by what you've settled for."

Do you want something but seem to not have any room for it? Then you need to get rid of what you've settled for first! Want new clothes? Get rid of your old clothes. Want a new car? Get rid of your old clunker.

We fill up our lives with all kinds of stuff that we settle for. Why? Do we think that we aren't good enough to have what we want, or do we feel that's all we deserve?

Are you striving for what you want or are you settling for what you can get? Why?
If you're settling, stop right now, get rid of the junk in that space and go after what you deserve!

Taking Action

"He who waits for fortune is never sure of dinner."~Benjamin Franklin

Is your fortune just around the corner? Are you waiting for it or are you chasing after it with all that you have? Can you see the beginning of it and you're waiting for the rest to come?

Guess What? Your fortune will NEVER come to you. You have to GO AFTER IT!!

Old Ben was a little more explicit in his view...If your are waiting for it, you will not eat! And back then as now, eating is something we all must do to survive.

Take a look at your ACTIONS. Are they in line with going after your fortune or are the just to make ends meet???

Attitudes

"Attitudes are the forerunners of conditions."~Eric Butterworth

Talk about the Law of Attraction! Think about this quote in that vein...

What do NEGATIVE thoughts attract? What does a self-defeating attitude project?
Success or Failure?

What do POSITIVE thoughts attract? When you KNOW that you will succeed, what happens?

You get what you attract and what you attract is conditioned by your thoughts and attitudes!
Simple stuff really, when you THINK about it...

Decide today to make it a great day!

Socrates said "Beware the barreness of a busy life." WOW! How did he know about PDA's, cell phones, etc? Is your life FULL or just busy?

My son went to a Teen Conference in Tennessee last week and we picked him up at the airport. As we were waiting for his plane to arrive, several other planes arrived and as the passengers walked past us, 90% of them had a cell phone to their ear and were talking to someone else.

What did we do before cell phones? How did these people survive?

The sad thing about the technology that keeps increasing the speed of our daily lives is that it really doesn't ADD that much TO our lives. Yes, they help but do all these new contraptions REALLY ADD to your life???

Something to think about...Socrates had it right:
"Beware the barreness of a busy life."

Learning

Ralph Waldo Emerson greeted his friends with the question, "What have you learned since we last met?

What a great way to start a conversation!!!

What have you learned since we last met? Anything substantial, anything about yourself, your family, your business?

If you haven't learned anything since we last met, make it a point to learn something before we meet again.

If you aren't constantly learning how to do your business better, how are you growing your business? You ARE growing your business, right???

Success

"Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines practiced every day; while failure is simply a few errors in judgment repeated every day. It is the accumulative weight of our disciplines and our judgments that lead us to either fortune or failure." ~Jim Rohn
  • What are your daily disciplines?
  • What are your errors in judgments?
  • How do you know?

Testimonials

Just a few kind words from our members...

Dave continues to orchestrate a meeting that "kicks off" the day encouraging the participants to exercise their minds. Right from the opening bell, Dave gets your brain stimulated with the words of the day which are a great segue to his sharing marking concepts and techniques. These thought provoking business situations inspire the group to participate in lively, but friendly, debate. I would encourage everyone to participate in these skillfully planned meetings and enjoy the fruits of his hard work and insight.

Thank you David, it was a great morning. We hope to be there the week after week.

Welcome to the Mastermind Roundtable

Napoleon Hill described the concept of the Master Mind as "coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people for the attainment of a definite purpose."

The definite purpose of the The Mastermind Roundtable is for highly motivated, like-minded professionals to come together and share ideas on how to increase sales, grow their businesses and dominate their markets.

Each member of this group brings different experiences, strengths and skill sets to the table. Each member is responsible to learn from and to teach other members. As we share our challenges with one another, we are empowered to create solutions for ourselves and our group members.

If you would like to visit one of our Mastermind Roundtable groups, please contact us! We have two groups, meeting in North Phoenix and Chandler.
