It's None Of My Business

"I have no need to conform to the stereotypes others have defined for me."
~Jonathan Lockwood Huie

Are you conforming to the stereotypes that others have define for you? Why? I mean really, why? Were you told that you needed to be this way or that way and you did it? What were you thinking?

Here's a favorite quote of mine, "It's none of my business what you think of me." See, if I make it my business what you think of me, then I change who I am to gain your acceptance, trust, love, whatever. But to really live that, you need to be confident in who you are, and know who you are!  Too many people are still relying on other people's acceptance.  Is that you?  Think about it for  a while.  I hope not!

“Don’t be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams.” Too many people today are only pushed by their problems and aren't led by their dreams. Be led by your dreams! But make sure that they are your dreams and not someone elses...Wayne Dyer said "Live out of your imagination, not your history."  Are you living out of your history and not your imagination?  Unfortunately, most people are.  Regretting the big break they lost, that promotion that went to someone else, that significant other that is no longer significant.  Stop that NOW!

You, and only you, get to choose how you spend each precious moment of your life. Tomorrow is promised to no one.  Choose well and carefully.   It is always your choice.  And the sooner that you realize that you are where you are now because of the choices that you have made, the sooner you can start making better choices.  It's always been up to you!

What Are You Doing For Others?

Life's most urgent question is: What are you doing for others?~Martin Luther King, Jr.
What
are YOU doing for others? This used to be important, 20, 30 years ago and we got away from it, but now, some people are starting to realize that it is what is MOST important to almost anything. It is no longer "what can I get for myself," but "How can I serve others?"

So I ask again, what are YOU doing for others? Think about it for a while. This goes beyond what your business does for others, what are YOU DOING FOR OTHERS? And How are you doing this for others? And Why are you doing this for others?

Emerson said that "A man cannot truly help another person, without it helping himself." Do you realize that is the way the world works? When you help others, when you do for others, you end up helping yourself? We as a society have fallen into the "ME" trap. Here in the United States, it used to be US. But with political correctness, we've been divided into groups and classes.

We've been duped into believing that if I become part of a group, I can get what I want. What happened to the rugged individualism that made this country great? What happened to American Exceptionalism? We've thrown it away all for diversity and political correctness!!!

King also said, in his "I have a dream speech," that he hoped that someday, "his children would be judged on the content of their character and not on the color of their skin." I wonder what he would say about today's society?

Take some time today and DO something for some one else.

Stop Worrying What Others Think

"You wouldn't worry so much about what others think of you if you realized how seldom they do."~Eleanor Roosevelt

I just love this quote! Read it again. Now, think about how many times you didn't do something because of what other people thought about what you were going to do Guess what? They weren't thinking about you!

Think about when you meet someone and tell them what you do for business. Guess what? They don't care about what you do for business. What they care about is what you can do for THEM!! That is the only time people really think about you...when you can show them how you can help them! It's all about them. Never forget that.

A favorite quote of mine is "It's none of my business what you think of me." See, because when I care about what you think about me, I change who I am to fit what you think about me.

Action:
Realize that most people are NOT thinking about you. What they do care about is what you can do for them! So don't run your life based on other people's thoughts.

Do What Makes YOU Come Alive!

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”~Harold Whitman

What makes you come alive? Your work? Only if you are a part of the 22% that like/love what they do...as 78% of Americans hate their job. Wow, what a depressing statistic. 78% of people hate their jobs!!! My question to those of you that do...WHY? Why are you still doing what you hate to do? To pay the bills? To keep up with the neighbors? To get that next toy? Is it really worth it???

Do what makes you come alive!!! The world needs more people who have come alive and are willing to share it with the world. I talk with people all the time who say they can't do what they want to do because of this reason or that reason. The main reason is fear (thought they won't say that) and it's holding them back and keeping them stuck where they are. So sad.

If you are doing what you love, congratulations. Are you remarkable doing it? I hope so, because the world needs remarkable people and each of you are unique and if you don't bring that uniqueness to the world, the world will never see it...because only you have it to bring to the world!

If you are not remarkable, then maybe we should talk. Remember, being remarkable doesn't mean being remarkable to you...it means being remarkable to others. Are you remarkable to others??

Have You Made A Difference?

"You never know when someone will catch a dream from you. You never know when that little word or something you do opens the windows of the mind that seeks the light. So just in case, it could be that another's life through you might possibly change for the better, with a broader and brighter view, it seems it might be worth a try at pointing the way to the right...of course it may not matter at all...but you never know it might."

When do you know if you have made a difference? Do you ever know? How often do you think about making a difference in the lives of others? We are so busy with all of our own crap, we don't often think of others...but what would happen if someone catches their dream from you? What a wonderful thing that would be!

Do you live your life as an inspiration to others or are you so caught up in your own stuff that you forget about everyone else or simply don't have time? What will you do today to be an inspiration to others? Maybe just a smile, a wave, a sincere "hello." That may be all it takes to turn someones day around...

Hopefully this has inspired you to make a difference in someones life today. Of course, it might not matter at all...but then again, it might!
