Wise Use Of YOUR Time

"Think highly enough of yourself to make wise and effective use of this day. Remember that every moment you fill is your own, precious, irreplaceable time."~Ralph Marston

Are you making wise and effective use of your time? Today? If not, then you don't think highly enough about  yourself. You get to choose. Taking action or procrastination. Making wise and effective use of the day or wasting the day.

Every moment is yours to fill. It's your choice what to do with it. No one else can make you do anything that you don't want to. It comes back to your choice of thinking highly enough about yourself or not. Do you think highly enough about yourself or are you allowing others to dictate your time? Don't let them, it's your choice.

John Randolph said "Time is at once the most valuable and the most perishable of all our possessions." How true that is. Think about that. We own 24 hours a day. Are you investing it or wasting it? Think about how easy it is to blow 15 minutes every couple of hours. It could add up to 3 or 4 hours a day that we fritter away and lose forever. Do you value time as your most valuable possession? Most people don't.

Start making wise and effective use of your time...TODAY!! It's your choice to use your time in the way you see as best. Make sure that you are choosing well. Start treating time as your greatest possession!

What Thoughts Are We Admitting & Entertaining?

"If we are not responsible for the thoughts that pass our doors, we are at least responsible for those we admit and entertain." ~Charles Newcomb

We cannot control thoughts that just pop into our mind. We can control those thoughts to decide if they are of value and allow them to stay in our minds. The challenge is that it takes discipline to make sure that we only allow the thoughts that will benefit us and block out those that can be negative for us. Metacognition = Thinking about what we think about. It's challenging but you can do it. You just need to practice your thinking. When was the last time you practiced your thinking...thought so.

Henry James said "Human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives." This is so true. Realize that the better you get at thinking, the better things will go for you. But it just doesn't happen, you need to work at it. Daily.

Another way to get better at thinking is to attend workshops and seminars.  Other people know things you don't and if you are open to learning (which most people say they are, but really aren't) you can learn from anyone.  Even me!
You can also join us
Thursday December 18th at the workshop "Goal Getting & Goal Setting; Create Your Success Plan For 2015."  You will learn how to Create Your Success and stop your limitations.

You Were Created In Order To Make A Difference

"How far forward would we need to go in your life to show the difference you make? There are generations yet unborn whose very lives will be shifted and shaped by the moves you make and the actions you take today. And tomorrow. And the next day. And the next."

"EVERY SINGLE THING YOU DO MATTERS.

You have been created as one of a kind. On the planet Earth, there has never been one like you…and there never will be again. Your spirit, your thoughts and feelings, you ability to reason and act all exist in no one else. The rarities that make you special are no mere accident or quirk of fate.

YOU HAVE BEEN CREATED IN ORDER THAT YOU MIGHT MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

YOU HAVE WITHIN YOU THE POWER TO CHANGE THE WORLD.

Know that your actions cannot be hoarded, saved for later, or selectively used.

By your hand, millions – billions – of lives will be altered, caught up in a chain of events begun by you this day.

The very beating of your heart has meaning and purpose.
Your actions have value far greater than silver or gold.

Your life…And what you do with it today…MATTERS FOREVER."

Are You Working For Achievement Or Success?

"My mother drew a distinction between achievement and success. She said that achievement is the knowledge that you have studied and worked hard and done the best that is in you. Success is being praised by others. That is nice but not as important or satisfying. Always aim for achievement and forget about success."~Helen Hayes

Are you aiming for achievement or success? There is a huge difference. In our society, it seems like everyone wants success but few are willing to work for achievement. Think of your achievements. Were you able to have success without the achievement? Usually not, but most people still go for the success.

Einstein put it another way, he said "Rather than being a man of success, be a man of value." Wow, look at the value you provide rather than the success, because the success comes from the praise of others.

Always aim for achievement and forget about success. Always aim for providing value, for the more value you provide the more you will achieve.

Action:
Think about this today, are you aiming for success or achievement? Your achievement is always a part of your inner world while success is a part of your outer world. Keep working on that inner world...because it does create your outer world.

The Present, Critical, Decisive Hour

Ralph Waldo Emerson week:  Day #4
“One of the illusions of life is that the present hour is not the critical, decisive hour. Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year. No man has learned anything rightly, until he knows that every day is Doomsday.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Are you under the illusions that the present hour is not critical? We have a twisted sense of time and sometimes we really value time and sometimes we just waste our time, causally and without thought.

Do you view every hour as critical? Why not? Tomorrow is promised to no one, so we need to view every hour as critical...to us. How often do you just blow off and hour or two and use the excuse that you needed to veg. I know that I have. The challenge is to continue to be productive!

Now, I understand that sometimes we DO need to veg, to relax and catch our breaths. The key is to not make it a habit. Work all day, come home and plop in front of the tv or your computer and waste your precious time. Stop doing that!!

Action:
Today, when you get to do something, decide if you are investing your time or spending/wasting it. The key is to always be investing your time.

You Can't Make More Time

"Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff that life is made of." ~Benjamin Franklin

Do you love life? Do you squander time? Why? We all do it. We get so busy doing inconsequential things that the important things get pushed aside. In our over communicated, over saturated, overstimulated, over busy society, our attention is taken away from what is important and we chase after the latest, shiniest new thing that comes our way. SQUIRREL!!!! We squander our most valuable asset, our time.  Time is more important than money.  You can always make more money...you can't make more time!

Zig Ziglar says that "Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four-hour days."  Not having enough time is a priority issue, not a time issue. We have plenty of time to do the things we want to do, just not enough time to do the things that we may have to do, but don't want to do.

The next time that you are asked to do something that you don't want to do, be honest and say "I'm sorry, but that isn't of enough value to me to do at this time" instead of just saying, "I don't have time." If it is of enough value to you, you will find a way of making the time so that you can do it.

Start giving your time the value it deserves, investing it and not squandering it and you will become even more valuable to others and yourself.

Treating Others Better

"Look to be treated by others, as you have treated others."~Publius Syrus

How are you treating others? The people you work with? The people you network with? Your family and friends? If they are treating you bad, you might want to look and see how you treat them...

Are you a "Go-Giver?" Or are you a Go-Taker? Don't just dismiss the question, but really think about it. How are you giving instead of taking? Our society has lost it's way. In our quest for more and more things,we have taken to treating people like things that we use and then throw away...

Be a Go-Giver! Give more value than you expect in return for the compensation that you are getting. Let people see how you are treating others with more value and they will treat you with more value. And the funny part is that when you give more value than you get in compensation, your compensation grows from other sources!

When you treat people fairly, they will treat you fairly.

"Look to be treated by others, as you have treated others."
