Who Do You Hang With? Listen To?

"Think big and don't listen to people who tell you it can't be done. Life's too short to think small."~Tim Ferriss

How many times did you have a great idea and you told someone about it and they said "You can't do that," "You're stupid," "Why waste your time?" and you listened to them? Don't listen to the naysayers or those that want to keep you where you are. There's an interesting story about a bucket of crabs that describes this perfectly; when one of the crabs starts to climb out, the other crabs reach up and pull him back down. That's what those well meaning people are doing to you.

Napoleon Hill said "Deliberately seek the company of people who influence you to think and act on building the life you desire." Hang out with people who only want the best for you, who constantly are lifting you up and not smashing your dreams. Hang with people who will help your dreams come true!

Look at who is influencing you and who you are hanging with. If they aren't lifting you up, they are pulling you down. Notice that and make a change. It will positively affect your future.

Be Yourself, Your Best Self!

"Be yourself; no base imitator of another, but your best self. There is something which you can do better than another. Listen to the inward voice and bravely obey that. Do the things at which you are great, not what you were never made for." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Why are there so many penguins and so few peacocks? Because in the world, we are told to "fit in," "Don't stand out," "This is the way we've always done things." (thankfully in Arizona at least, we are losing the penguin suits...) Our individuality has been systematically beaten out of us. So who we are sometimes is a second hand version of someone else...How sad!

Be yourself, your best self! Too often, we hide our best self for fear of it being not enough, for fear of people not liking us, for lots of reasons. There is something that you can do better than any one else and if you don't do it, the world will never see it, because you were put here for that one thing.

Listen to the inner voice and bravely obey that. How often do you turn that voice off or down so low that it can't be heard? Why do we do that? Because we need courage to listen to our own intuition...and act on it.

Do the things at which you are great, not what you were never made for. Are you doing things that you were never made for? Most small business owners are...for all the wrong reasons. Do the things at which you are great.

Know. Be Known. Make A Difference!

Stand Out! Don't Fit In

"Every single one of us can do things that no one else can do - can love things that no one else can love. We are like violins. We can be used for doorstops, or we can make music. You know what to do."~Barbara Sher

Why are you trying so hard to fit in when you were born to stand out? We are trained to "fit in." We are taught to be like everyone else. Sit in straight rows, be still and quiet. Listen, don't talk and have the right answers. Don't think differently. Don't be different, don't be unique, don't stand out!  It's hard to be special when everyone is trying to make you like everyone else!

We were each created with special abilities that only we have, but if you have hidden your abilities in the effort to "fit in" then you are doing the world and yourself a disservice. The world only benefits when you are doing what you are supposed to be doing not when you are fitting in. If you don't bring the world what you were meant to, the world will never see it. Don't deprive the world of your special abilities.

You can choose which to be, either a Strataverius or a Stratadoorstop. It is entirely up to you, not your parents, teachers, friends or anyone else. IT IS YOUR CHOICE! Choose wisely.

Only YOU Can Raise Your Value

"You're bigger than you think. So, fit your thinking to your true size. Think as big as you really are! Never, never, never sell yourself short!"~David J. Schwartz, PhD

Does your thinking fit your true size?? I'm talking about mental size, not physical size...Do you realize that you are bigger than you think? Most people are satisfied with being mediocre and are not really interested in seeing how big they can play. Oh, they talk a good game, but when it comes down to it, they are happy to stay in their shell and not venture out too far.  That would take them out of their "comfort zone" and most people don't like to leave the rut, I mean safety, I mean "the familiar zone."

What will it take for you to think as big as you really are and not sell yourself short? Do you let the voice in your head talk you down from trying? Do you listen to those fears? About those fears...they only exist in your head. In fact, think of all the fears that you have and there are only 2 that we are born with, the fear of loud noises and the fear of falling. Every other fear that you have, from snakes to germs, to spiders and such YOU created.  Un-create them and don't let the fears stop you from doing what you know needs to be done to think big.

Never, ever, sell yourself short. Here's the problem with selling yourself short. The world will not raise your value if you don't value yourself. No one else can raise your value either, so it comes back to you. Only YOU can raise your value to the world.  Stop playing small. Play and think BIG.

Be Your Best Self

"Be yourself; no base imitator of another, but your best self. There is something which you can do better than another. Listen to the inward voice and bravely obey that. Do the things at which you are great, not what you were never made for."~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Are you yourself or a base imitator of another? Really? In a world that is constantly trying to homogenize everyone, are you who you really are down deep? Or are you playing a role that you've been assigned?

Listen to that inward voice and obey that. Listen to yourself. You can take input from others, but you need to decide who you are...and be that person. Too often we allow others to majorly influence who we are. Sometimes that works for us, sometimes it doesn't.

Do the things that you are great at, not the things for which you were never made for. Ever thought about that? The things you aren't made for? That may clear up some questions about what you should be doing. It's never too late to be who you were meant to be, not just an imitation of someone else.

Action:
Don't be an imitator, be yourself. Listen to your inner voice. do the things that you are great at.

Encouragement Does More

"Correction does much, but encouragement does more." ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

We are constantly being corrected but how often are we encouraged? I'd say that it's at least 10 to 1, correction over encouragement. What do you think?

Today's post is to ENCOURAGE you to become all that you were meant to be. That means playing big, not shrinking back and hiding in the crowd! Don't let your lizard brain scare you away from being who you were meant to be!! Your lizard brain will tell you that it is too dangerous, that people will not like you, that you can't become who you were meant to become. DON'T LISTEN TO YOUR LIZARD BRAIN!!! The lizard brain is why I say that your brain is not your friend.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, who is one of my mentors said "Our chief want is someone who will inspire us to be what we know we could be." If that is you, take this message as your wake up call to be inspired to be all that you were created to be!

Action:
Take today to encourage someone you don't know and maybe even some people that you do know and see what a difference it makes in their life.

"Look and listen, feel and know. What you sincerely seek will come within your reach, if you simply allow it and see it. Opportunity rarely looks the way you thought it would. Open your heart and open your mind to recognize it." ~Ralph Marston

Each day, coming your way, is a fast-flowing stream of seemingly random events. Somewhere within them are the ones you asked for. There are no coincidences. We get exactly what we ask for.  What are you asking for?  Anything?

For each dream you have, life gives you the possibilities for achieving that dream. Your job is to see those possibilities and to act on them. Too often, we are bogged down in our thinking and we can't see the possibilities that are right in front of us.  What are you prepared to see?

When you wish to go new places, you must accept that the road will be unfamiliar. Go with what feels right, even though it feels a little uncomfortable. Allow yourself to be taken out of your comfort zone...that's where you will find growth.

When you think about your "comfort zone" it's really not comfortable, is it?  I like to call it your "familiar zone."  Because you are familiar with the pain.  And the pain you know is always more prefered than the pain we don't know (or at least what we imagine)

What you seek is coming to you. See it and have the faith to fully live it. Don't allow fear to keep you from what you seek and what you want. What you seek is coming to you.  Be prepared to see it!
